The List Method: Your First Step to Scaling on X

This is how I would do it if I were to start all over again in growing my audience

GM friends 🫡

Finally, I decided to launch my newsletter, and I encourage every single one of you to do it as well when you have reached a certain point of growth.

Newsletters help you bond with your audience and demonstrate in much deeper detail certain topics that can’t be discussed in a thread or a long-format tweet (for now coz Elon is cooking).

My newsletter in the future could potentially be monetized or include sponsors.

With that in mind, since you are an early part of the fam, you will never be charged, as I truly cherish every single one of you.

So, let’s get into my strategy of being the ultimate reply guy!

What does it even mean when we say being a reply guy?

In my opinion, a reply guy wants to create relationships with others by engaging with them daily through valuable replies to show them support.

However, this certainly doesn’t mean that you can’t be strategic, we live in a world where our attention is the new oil.

Hence, you will need to be interacting (replying) to bigger accounts for maximum reach, as well as smaller accounts who you meet along the way with a similar following number as you so you end up growing together.

The ultimate goal here is to increase your impression number, gain followers, and cultivate meaningful relationships along the way.

How to be a good reply guy?

Provide Value

Since we are all in Web3, the accounts we interact with will have similar interests, that’s the beauty of our space.

When commenting on other’s content, try to use one of the following criteria:

  • Sharing additional information

  • Giving constructive feedback

  • Offering a different perspective

  • Answering questions

  • Provide resources or links

Anything that will enhance their content also shines a light on your reply!

Include funny GIFs or memes

Relevant GIFs or memes speak a thousand words, so utilize them accordingly, if you can make someone else laugh, then you have won them over.

‘‘who controls the memes controls the universe’’

Elon Musk

Make certain emojis ‘‘your own’’

I would highly suggest finding 5 emojis that resonate with you and use them whenever you see fit.

This almost feels like building up a brand, in this case a personal brand, where you use the same emojis repeatedly to make yourself truly unique.

Don’t go overboard and use all +3500 emojis.

Now you must be saying, that this is so straightforward, and I say that you are correct, this is the basic concept of how to be a Reply Guy 101.

Now let’s get into the juicy parts and how you can streamline your process

To build the process we will need to cover the following:

  1. Create a list

  2. Use ‘‘Explore’’ feature

  3. IT’S GO TIME

This will be your ultimate weapon to be the greatest reply guy of all time!

(at the end, I will include a video that takes you step by step for extra clarity)

Create a list

The goal when creating a list is to reach roughly 300-400 Twitter profiles that you want to interact with, who are also interested in the same topics as you are, in this case, Web3.

The list will need to contain both large accounts, from which you can leverage a bigger reach, and smaller accounts or those of your size to grow together.

To create a list, simply go to the homepage and, on the left-hand side menu, click on "Lists."

Then, at the top right, click on "New List."

An option will open up with "Name," "Description," and "Make Private."

Name the list "Making New Friends," add any description such as "Accounts that I will be interacting with on a daily basis," and then make it "private."

This way, no one will be able to see if they are added, and no one can follow the list either which makes it truly your own private list with a mission and a goal.

That’s it for this step.

Note: start slowly, it will take 1 month+ to reach 300-400 new friends

Use ‘‘Explore’’ Feature

Now, you want to open up your freshly created "Making New Friends" list.

In the URL of your browser, you should see a very similar domain:

x(dot)com/i/lists/1812625564517171379 ← the ending numbers of the URL (1812625564517171379) is the list you have created.

Go to the "Explore" feature from the left-hand side menu, and you want to copy and paste the following into "Search":

list:1812625564517171379 -filter:replies -gm -gn -morning -giveaway

Notice how I am using my personal list from the URL in this search.

Set up the feed to be filtered with the "Latest," and voila, you are done!

IT’S GO TIME

You should be able to create a list of 50-100 Twitter profiles to interact with in probably 1-2 hours.

Perhaps you already have lists that you can combine into the "Making New Friends" list, which will speed up the process.

If not, start adding people every time you find a valuable profile that you would like to maintain a relationship with.

What the "Explore" feature allows you to do is provide you with the latest tweets in real-time by filtering out "replies -gm -gn -morning -giveaway," it now provides you with highly valuable content to interact with and less fluff.

Ultimately, you will no longer have the issue of "my Twitter feed is horrible" or "I don’t have good content to interact with!"—you are curating your own timeline.
